Your smile is extremely important to Dr. MaeNell Sullivan and our dental team. This is why we want to encourage you to replace your missing teeth–so you can have the strong oral health and the beautiful smile you desire. Getting dentures is an excellent method of replacing your missing teeth.

There are two kinds of dentures: partial or complete dentures. Both appliances replace teeth and offer natural-looking results, but they do it slightly differently. Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth in a row, attaching to the remaining natural teeth on both sides of the gap., Complete dentures suction to the roof of the mouth. Complete dentures replace all of your teeth.

It’s normal for dentures to feel mildly uncomfortable when you first wear them, but don’t fret! You will get used to them! They will make you salivate more than normal, which will take some adjustment. To help you quickly get used to the dentures, practice chewing and talking when they are in place.

Even with dentures, it is important to practice superb oral hygiene. Brush your gums, tongue, and roof of your mouth with an ADA-approved soft-bristled toothbrush to help remove plaque and prevent halitosis. Be sure to clean your dentures every day according to your dentist’s instructions.
