When you receive dentures from Tenino Denture Center, you can rest assured they were designed and created by a team of talented dental professionals to restore your smile and improve its function. Our dentures are made to last several years with proper care, but many patients are unsure how to keep their dentures protected from bacteria buildup and staining. Dr. MaeNell Sullivan is pleased to provide several tips to keep dentures clean.

If you have traditional dentures that use denture adhesive to keep the appliance secure and stop particles from building between the gums and appliance, you probably know that sometimes food particles can still become trapped under your dentures. In this instance, you need to remove your dentures to flush any particles and remaining adhesive from your mouth and appliance. Then, reapply denture adhesive to your dentures and place them back in your mouth.

When it’s time to remove your dentures at night, rinse them off to flush away plaque and adhesive buildup, then brush your dentures with denture polish and a soft-bristled toothbrush. When finished, placing the dentures in a container of water to soak overnight before storing them away safely.

You should also brush your tongue and soft tissues twice a day because, even though your dentures can’t get cavities, your mouth can still accumulate bacteria and develop bad breath.
